Sarah A. Cox
For the past five years, I have served on the Board of Trustees of Unity Christ Church, Golden Valley, MN, and have held the position of President of the Board for the past three years. Prior to that, I held positions as Assistant Treasurer and Member at Large/Liaison to the Ministerial Search Committee.

Gifts I bring are openness to new ideas, love of learning, deep belief in a benevolent and ever-present Higher Power, the knowledge that all persons are children of God and worthy of love and respect, and an abiding belief that God is the Source of our supply.

My professional background is in education, project management, conflict resolution/negotiation, team building and marketing. I have held positions as Professor of Merchandising/Apparel Construction at the University of Wisconsin-Stout and the University of Minnesota. Additionally I have experience as Regional Account Manager for US West (now Qwest) in the fields of Government and Education, as a retail buyer and manager, and in retail sales.

I offer experience in non-profit leadership, business management, higher education, customer service and sales, and a proven ability to manage projects and priorities to successfully achieve objectives.

Over the past 20 years, I have served on the board of four non-profit organizations, two religious, two secular, filling the role of Board Chair on three of them. I have also held various positions on Finance, Fundraising and Program Committees.

It is exciting to be a part of the Unity movement at this pivotal time, as we see the level of consciousness rising all over the world, and prepare for the higher spiritual order that will soon make itself manifest.

I joined Unity Christ Church of Golden Valley in 2004, along with my daughter, Grace, and my wife, Sara Anderson. A Board Member since 2009, I have also been visible at UCC as a platform assistant and Uniteen Sunday School teacher. By day, I produce and direct events for a Twin Cities-based financial-services company and have most recently served on the Board of Directors for the Minnesota Chapter of the ALS Association. It's an exciting and humbling opportunity to serve on the Board of Trustees during such an evolutionary time at Unity Christ Church.

I have been involved in and part of the Unity movement since 1989. My first exposure to Unity was seeing Eric Butterworth and his wife do a New Year’s Day service at Lincoln Center in NY. I was transformed that day and have loved Unity ever since. I moved to Wilmington, NC, shortly after and became part of the Unity family there. I taught Sunday school and was the Youth Director for 5 years. I also lived in Charlotte, NC, where I was the youth director for another 2-3 years. My family and I became official members of UCC in 2008. My wife Shirley is one of the Ministers, and I have served as a prayer chaplain and am also part of the prayer ministry. I have been on the Youth and Family Ministry Advisory board for over a year, and I help teach Sunday school. My spiritual growth has had many stages: First there was the intellectual understandings, then bringing that understanding into my heart and body and now expressing that spiritual understanding through service and being present in the community.

I have been attending Unity churches in various locations for over 10 years. I, along with many people, feel that Unity is my spiritual home. I married my husband, Jim, 5 years ago in Pasadena, California, and we moved back to Minnesota in 2006. Since that time I have been attending Unity Christ Church I have served in various capacities in Unity Churches over the years, including as a prayer chaplain and a Sunday School teacher. I have a passion for this spiritual community and love the mission of transforming lives as I truly believe we do and can. I am working on becoming a Licensed Unity teacher and am taking classes toward that goal. I have worked in Human Resources in “people development” including inspiring and motivating talent and passion in people through training, assessment, facilitation and coaching. I am currently a stay-at-home mom with two beautiful children, Sofia (4) and Siena (2). It is an honor to serve on the board and represent this wonderful spiritual community.

Jeff, his wife Andrea, and their daughter, Claire, have been attending Unity Christ Church for just over two years, and have been members for approximately 18 months. Prior to UCC, they were regular attendees at Unity South. Jeff has spent the better part of the last 18 months supporting the Church’s website, and recently made a number of “look and feel” upgrades to better match the new logo and colors. Jeff has also been active on the Communications Task Force. Professionally, Jeff is a Vice President at Wells Fargo Home Mortgage and has been there for three years. Prior to joining Wells, Jeff spent nearly sixteen years with Accenture/Andersen Consulting where he helped Fortune 500 companies develop new business models, grow revenue, and expand their product offerings. Jeff believes his skills in consulting and the leadership opportunities afforded to him at Wells Fargo will help serve the Church in many ways.

Unity Christ Church has been my spiritual home since the year 2000. Like many who find their way to this church, my life was in transition. The Unity Principles enabled me to navigate the changes in my life with strength, a positive attitude and faith that all is in Divine Order. I have been active at UCC in many capacities, attending classes and events, hosting book groups in my home, volunteering as an usher, love offering counter, past member of the Board of Trustees and three years as a Prayer Chaplain. I bring 25 years of professional experience in accounting and finance to my current role as Treasurer on the Board. Unity continues to be a blessing in my life, and I am excited by my ongoing spiritual growth. I am committed to doing the work necessary for Unity Christ Church to continue blessing the lives of all who are touched by this Spiritual Community.
